Foundation Holds 7th Annual
Tom Manatt Memorial
Sporting Clays Tournament

For the third year in a row nearly 100 shooters were treated to beautiful May weather and plenty of camaraderie on May 8th for the Foundation’s sixth sporting clays fundraising tournament.  The tournament is in memory of Tom Manatt.  Tom was an avid outdoorsman and devoted participant in the AGC of Iowa Foundation Sporting Clays Tournament.

The fun was non-stop for the five-person teams who tested their skills on the difficult Steelclay Shooting Sports course in Eddyville.  The tournament was a winner for the Foundation too with the net precedes helping support scholarship programs, as well as coordinating workforce development and educational initiatives in partnership with AGC of Iowa.  Many, many thanks go to the sponsors and shooters who by their participation came out in support of the Foundation.  Our deepest gratitude goes to:

Individual high score honors went to Craig Hughes with 91 out of 100 clays broken.  This year’s first place team honors went to Willie Calderwood & Craig Hughes of Cedar Valley Corp.; Mark Deetz of Lyman Richey Sand & Gravel Co.; and Dave Suchorski & Steve Wobken of Ash Grove Cement with a team score of 389 out of 500.  In a tie for second place were the teams of Kim Triggs, Frank Bachman, Mark Freier, and Curt Sahl of Godbersen-Smith Construction Co. and Dave Peck of Christensen Bros., Inc. and the team of Matt Ellefson, Mark Hoffman, and Monte Kersman of L.G. Everist, Inc. and Bill Sutton of Headwaters Resources, Inc.  The third place team consisted of Brady Meldrem, Phil See, Mike Little, Bob Kutz, and Randy Garrett.
