Ken has been AGC of America’s go to economic expert since 2001. He will provide insight into the national and regional economy as it relates to the construction industry.

11:15am – Noon    Section 106 – National Historic Preservation Act –  Salon A

Brennan Dolan, Cultural Resources Team Lead for Iowa DOT, will present on the preservation of our nation’s historic properties and how it impacts highway construction projects.

8:40 -9:45 am    Midwest Legal Update – Kay Oskvig is an attorney at Whitfield and Eddy Law. She will present a legal update focusing on employment-related laws and cases. She will cover Iowa cases, recent federal regulatory updates, and give examples and recent developments from surrounding states.

9:45 – 10 am     Break

10 -11:30 am     From Potential to Practice: Unlocking Microsoft 365, Copilot, and Secure Productivity – Kaleb Dombeck, Senior Associate at RSM, and Jodi Rickers, Director at RSM will provide a practical overview of how Microsoft technologies— especially Microsoft 365 and Copilot —can be effectively adopted to drive productivity, collaboration, and organizational readiness. We will combine real world deployment lessons with cybersecurity awareness to help leaders and teams better prepare for both innovation and risk.

 12:35 – 1:45pm  Group Captive Insurance 101 – Sam Pritchard, Captive Executive at Innovative Captive Strategies (ICS) - a Holmes Murphy subsidiary, will introduce the group captive insurance model and its growing adoption in the construction industry. Mr. Pritchard will walk through how captives work, what distinguishes them from traditional insurance, and how contractors are using them as a market-neutral solution to take control of their risk costs and build long-term equity.

2:00 – 3:45 pm    Round Table Discussion – Topic – Artificial Intelligence (AI) Learning Session 2.0 – Paul Gormley, Digital Marketing and Innovation at CIRAS, will give an update on AI advancement and the options available in our industry. Paul will also be doing a Q &A to go over any specific questions anyone has.

For 100 years, AGC Iowa has advocated for a safer and more efficient highway and underground utility infrastructure.  Starting with a small group in 1923, this organization has spent the past century advocating for the transportation network that delivers crops to the elevator and children to schools.  We have transformed this state in the past 100 years and now it is time start work on the next 100 years.

The Associated General Contractors of Iowa Foundation

 

The Associated General Contractors of Iowa Foundation was established in 1997 and determined by the Internal Revenue Service to be a publicly supported charitable foundation. It is organized to foster education, support research and disseminate information to the general public concerning the construction industry. The Foundation provides scholarships to construction education students enrolled in accredited programs thus maintaining a quality workforce.
